Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments I feel the cholesterol drug should be sold otc. There are a lot of people that don't take it because it is so costly to go the Dr., get the required test, and then buy the drug every month. The loss of profit from one drug is not going to hurt the billion dollar drug industry and so many people would benefit from the easy availibility of the product. A liver test could be done every other year to check for liver problems. What would make this drug worse than any other otc drug on the liver? No one is concerned about the liver with any of the otc products on the market now. I think the whole thing comes down to money like so many other things in our country. This drug should be more accessible to people who can not afford to pay a weeks salary to go the the DR. and buy the medication. A lot of people have to make choices and priorities in life. This seems like a small thing to some people but it would help my budget a lot. Being 50 my Dr. has suggested I take it but I can not really afford one more monthly expense right now. If it were sold OTC I would probably manage to get it for myself. Please do the right thing.
