Comments for FDA General
Questions
1. General Comments As an extreme allergy sufferer, with 3 children who also suffer from extreme allergies, the cost of prescription Claritin in my household is a major expense. When added to the cost of doctor's visits, the cost is even greater, and in my opinion, unnecessary, if the drug could be obtained OTC. In today's society, medical costs are inflated and families are going without medical care/drugs just because they cost too much....and the FDA should do everything you can to help us obtain access (inexpensively) to drugs that help us maintain a healthy lifestyle. We have unlimited access to Benadryl, which causes drowsiness....(which affects our driving and results in accidents) but we can't have access to Claritin, which is nondrowsy? Please Please Please make this drug accessible to the millions of people who suffer from allergies. Right now it is a racket among the medical community to force us (and the insurance companies) to pay for doctor's visits and overpriced Claritin. Let them move on to the next new wonderdrug. They've made enough money on Claritin. Now let us buy it OTC, just like Drixoral or Benadryl or Alleve......
