I had called the FDA about two weeks before the announcement and the girl I spoke with said it was not on the list for review. She would not give me any name or address to write to. Then I see in the newspaper it has been taken off the market. LOTRONEX is the only medication that controls my Irritabale bowel syndrome. I have suffered for several years, and my gastro-enterologist has tried several other medications. None have worked. LOTRONEX does work. What this means is that I shall be a prisoner in my own home again. I will have about 10 uncontrollable episodes of diarrhea a day. Pretty frustrating. Pretty embarassing. Why in the world would the FDA make such a judgement call without consulting some of the patients who were experiencing good results? Glaxo-Wellcome says there is no other medication that works the same. What am I to do?
