• Competitive inhibitor of HBV DNA polymerase

• Long intracellular half-life (12-36 hours)

• Adefovir-associated resistance mutation sites identified in HIV RT not present in HBV DNA polymerase

• In vitro activity against wild-type andlamivudine-resistant HBV
