RENAAL: Efficacy Summary (Renal)
In type 2 diabetic patients with proteinuria, losartan:
- Is renal protective by delaying the onset of the primary composite endpoint of doubling of serum creatinine, ESRD (need for chronic dialysis or transplantation), or death
- Reduces the risk of ESRD by 28.6%
- Reduces the rate of decline in renal function as measured by the slope of 1/sCr
- Reduces proteinuria
- Has a beneficial effect on the primary composite endpoint and proteinuria beyond its beneficial effect on blood pressure
