Ribavirin Toxicity

• Hemolytic anemia

  • most common in the first weeks
  • stabilizes thereafter
  • usually < 2 g drop in hemoglobin
  • reversible, dose dependent

• Teratogenic, male and female

• Mutagenic in animal models
