Stages of TTVIs and infectivity
Plateau phase (HCV)
- Prolonged, stable high-titer viremia preceding SC
- Minor fluctuations in viral load may reflect host cell capacity to support viral replication
Peak viremia (HIV & HBV)
- Rapid rise then fall in viral load corresponding to immune control and clearance of virus
- Results in clearance or post-SC steady state viremia
