To those charged with the responsibility to deliberate on this issue: Just as certainly as we are each here because our mothers carried us in their wombs, now we must decide whether or not to use cell lines from the tissue of aborted children. Knowing this makes the title of this docket item all the more amazing. Semantics are what are used to forward a question to a desired outcome; for persuasion, for sales, even for killing. There is more in question here than only the use of childrens' remains. However, just as killing in the womb, (which was formerly the safest place on earth and is now after all the most dangerous) is repugnant, atrocious and intolerable, so also is the use of the childrens' remains. There are those who favor the killing at any cost, requiring the healers, our people in medicine, to do the killing; and it is a very bitter irony indeed that they would fasten themselves on to the promotion of this practice in the name of healing. When others must have their lives taken to 'morally' sustain such wanton killing, it is indeed yet another perversion of the very meaning of Medicine. I implore each of you, from the bottom of my heart, to turn away from this practice; and let other, and by far more humane means be developed and employed for the cell lines needed for our vaccinations.

Allow me to paraphrase Thomas Jefferson who said the the only legitimate ends of government is the preservation and protection of human life. May your authority, which ultimately comes from God, be used for the protection of all human life, at every stage of development. I remind you that the entire genetic code is present in the first instant. While the very practice of abortion is not at issue in this question, the sustenence and fortification of this heinous practice, which occurs in America every day, every 23 seconds, through all 9 months of pregnancy, even during birth itself, is indeed at risk. Please do all you can to limit harm and defeat this question. May God, the Author of Life and the Creator of all that is good, guide you in this decision.
