| I am writing to oppose the use of fetal cell lines in the research, development and production of vaccines. I firmly believe, and am supported by basic biology, that a human being is present from the moment of the joining of an egg and sperm cell. Therefore, the abortion or even cell extraction resulting in embryonic destruction required to create fetal cell lines is the killing of a human being who is covered by the right to live proclaimed in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Please pursue research into this crucial area of vaccine development for truly menancing diseases without the use of fetal tissue and cells. Such research, such as that employing animal lines and embryos, has proven successful and carries no taint with it. I am appalled we have ever in this wonderful country 'cannibalized' parts from our very youngest citizens. I became truly physically sick to my stomach when I discovered that the rubella vaccine I and my children received was derived from the cells of an aborted baby who would have been about my actual age but who never even got the chance to be born. We are a better people than this. Please put a moratorium on such practice.
