| As a healthcare practitioner, I am appalled by the petition that Wyeth has submitted to ban the use of bioidentical replacement therapy drugs all in the name of business profits. Although I am a healthcare practitioner, I had disasterous results with my hormone regulation while trying to do so with synthetic drugs. It was only after trying natural bio-identical hormones that I am finally able to find relief and feel like a functioning member of society again. I am now back in my practice treating patients on a full time basis.
I find it absolutely shameful that the FDA would consider padding Wyeth's profits by attempting to ban bio-identical hormones that have been shown to be significantly safer to public health than synthetic versions. It's the synthetic versions that endanger public health and should be banned. How many women had to die from Premarin and other HRT synthetics when natural hormone replacement via bio-identical hormones would have been the safest remedy? The FDA needs to get out of bed with the pharmaceutical industry and try to do what they were founded to do--protect the American people from dangerous medications...like synthetic hormones. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
