Current Primary Research Interests: Analytical instrument and system development

  • Chromatographic/mass spectrometric interfaces.
  • Pending US and International Patent: a food quality colorimetric indicator, FreshTagÔ
  • Pending US and International Patent: a method, SDAR (Spectral Data Activity Relationships), in which patterns in analytical spectra are used to predict the biological, chemical, and physical properties of chemicals.
  • Disclosure of a patentable method for standardizing bacterial pyrolysis MS spectra with respect to instrumental drift and sample processing variables so that assembly and consultation of a spectral data base for rapid taxonomy at the strain level is possible and practical.
