Rockville, MD - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today posted a summary of its Drug Safety Oversight Board (DSOB) meeting held July 27, 2005. It was the second meeting for DSOB, which is tasked to provide oversight on safety concerns and managing the flow of emerging drug safety information.
Although DSOB meetings are not open to the public due to the proprietary nature of the discussions, FDA has posted the summary of the meeting online to provide as much information as possible to the public. Any publicly available information on DSOB meetings can be found at http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/DrugSafety/DSOBmeetings/default.htm.
At the July 27th meeting, the Board discussed recent web postings for emerging safety issues that occurred since the last board meeting, and received briefings on drug safety activities in the Office of New Drugs and the Office of Drug Safety.
The Board will continue to meet regularly -- approximately every six weeks, to address emerging safety issues. The public should know that this Board will continue its comprehensive oversight of important drug safety concerns.
