FDA Statement on Requests to Extend the Deeming Public Comment Period a Second Time

On April 25, 2014, FDA published a proposed rule, Deeming Tobacco Products To Be Subject to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, with a 75-day public comment period ending on July 9, 2014. In response to multiple requests, FDA chose to extend the public comment period by 30 days to August 8, 2014. FDA has since received additional requests to extend the comment period a second time. After careful consideration, FDA has made the decision not to extend the comment period any further. Any comments, data and research should be submitted by August 8, 2014.
