Announcing New Tobacco Product Review Decisions and Two Nomination Requests for TPSAC Members
Today, FDA issued additional tobacco product review decisions, denying the marketing and sale of three new tobacco product through the substantial equivalence review path. The products were found to be “not substantially equivalent (NSE)” to the predicate products to which they were compared. The products under review were not on the market and cannot be introduced into the market. You can find more information about these decisions on our Tobacco Product Marketing Orders webpage.
FDA has also added a new feature to our Tobacco Product Marketing Orders webpage. Site visitors can now sign-up to receive updates about substantial equivalence orders. By signing up, you will receive notifications whenever we update the content on that page. Visit the Tobacco Product Marketing Orders webpage to sign up today!
FDA recently published a notice in the Federal Register requesting nominations for voting members to serve on the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC). In conjunction, FDA also published a separate document announcing the request for nominations for nonvoting industry representatives of the TPSAC. A nominee may either be self-nominated or nominated by a person or organization to serve as a voting or nonvoting industry member. The open nomination period closes for nonvoting representatives on November 24, 2013 and for voting members on December 28, 2013.
