Maryland Receives FDA Enforcement Contract for State Tobacco Retailer Inspections and Enforcement

A New Kind of Public Health Alliance

Dr. Deyton, Director of the FDA Center for Tobacco Products and John Colmers, Secretary of Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene hold a Break the Chain of Tobacco Addiction poster.

"At its core, FDA regulation is about one thing: Americans joining together to protect our children...

We need to join forces with others who have the know-how to make effective tobacco product regulation a reality all across this country...

With this contract, the State of Maryland is empowered to inspect retailers and to collect the evidence FDA needs to take enforcement action when the law has been violated."
