Persons in need of the services of a private laboratory often call the agency asking for referrals. FDA does not make such recommendations, but callers may be referred to organizations of private laboratories such as the American Council of Independent Labs (ACIL) at 1629 K. St., NW, Suite 4000, Washington, D.C. 20006-1633 (202-887-5872 or www.acil.org ); or ASTM at 1916 Race St., Philadelphia, PA 19103-1187 (www.astm.org ).
