Document the examination and analysis of the complaint/tampering sample on the analyst’s worksheet, FDA-431. Information on the analyst’s worksheet must include, but is not limited to, chain of custody, all observations, photographic documentation and analytical findings. This information may be used in legal proceedings through the federal courts or local jurisdictions, or in civil procedures through Freedom of Information.

These findings will be reviewed by law enforcement individuals and attorneys who may not have basic knowledge of the science used to determine the findings.
