Sessions Co. Inc. Recalls 2007 Christmas Holiday Packs (including Sessions Peanut Squares,
Sessions Fancy Peanuts, and Sessions Honey Roasted) Because of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 3, 2009 -- Sessions Co. Inc. of Enterprise, AL is recalling approximately 696 cases (12 twelve oz. cans) of 2007 Christmas Holiday Packs packaged in 12 oz. cans; or sleeves of three 12 oz. cans, because the peanuts in the product were supplied by the Peanut Corporation of America and it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The 2007 Christmas Holiday Packs were distributed by Sessions Co. in Enterprise, Alabama between October 1, 2007 and February 28, 2008 . The 2007 Christmas Holiday Packs consist of 12 Oz. cream colored cans with a green title which says Sessions Peanut Squares , Sessions Honey Roasted , and Sessions Fancy Peanuts.
No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date.
The recall was initiated when our firm was notified that Peanut Corporation of America was recalling the 2007 Christmas Holiday Packs which include Sessions Peanut Squares, Sessions Fancy Peanuts and Sessions Honey Roasted. Sessions Co. Inc. ceased distribution of these products in February 2008.
Consumers that have these products should not consume them. They should discard the candy but may take the packaging back to the location of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at telephone Number 334-393-0260.
