FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- March 18, 2009 – New Century Snacks LLC of Commerce, CA is recalling two (2) bulk peanut items because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recall was initiated due to the expanded recall by Peanut Corp of America that included the peanut types used in these products. New Century Snacks LLC has informed FDA of its actions and is fully cooperating with the Agency.
