In-Room Plus, Inc and In-Room West, Inc. Conduct Worldwide Voluntary Recall of Select Honey Roasted Peanuts and Hot Cajun Mix Because of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- February 12, 2009 -- In-Room Plus, Inc. of Buffalo, NY and In-Room West, Inc. of San Francisco, CA are recalling select Honey Roasted Peanuts and Hot Cajun Mix because the products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. This action is a result of the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) expanded recall of January 28, 2009 for all peanut products distributed from their Blakely, Georgia facility since December 1, 2007. The recalled items were manufactured with peanuts supplied by PCA.
Salmonella is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e. infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The products were distributed to hotels nationally and to Canada, Mexico, Seychelles, Cayman Islands, St. Johns, St. Martin, Aruba, and Grand Cayman.
There have been no documented cases of any illnesses caused by the consumption of these products.
