H-E-B Recalls H-E-Buddy Snack Packs With a Peanut Butter Dip

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- January 17, 2009 -- H-E-B has issued a state-wide voluntary recall for H-E-Buddy snack packs that are packaged with a peanut butter dip. The recall is only a precaution. The product contains peanut butter supplied by Peanut Corp. of America, which is being linked to a national outbreak of salmonella. No H-E-B customers have reported any illnesses.
The affected products are:
H-E-Buddy Celery w/Peanut Butter – UPC 41220-29701
Expiration Dates – 01/16, 01/17, 01/18, 01/20, 01/21 and 1/22
H-E-Buddy Apples w/Peanut Butter – UPC 41220-98734
Expiration Dates – 01/16, 01/18, 01/19, 01/20, 01/21, 01/22, 01/23, 01/25 and 01/26
H-E-Buddy Snack Tray w/two Dips – UPC 41220-54449
Expiration Dates – 01/16, 01/17, 01/19, 01/21 and 01/22
“We are strongly committed to ensuring the safety of our customers and of the products sold in our stores,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs and Diversity. “The product has been removed from all our stores and will be returned only once it is completely safe.” To notify customers of the voluntarily recall, H-E-B has posted signage in its store and has locked the product’s code in its computer system to ensure none of the affected products are sold at the register. The affected product has been removed completely from stores and has been disposed of safely. Customers who have purchased the product are asked to return it to their nearest H-E-B for a full refund.
