Dough-to-Go, Inc. recalls Dough-To-Go, Jane Dough and Auntie Ono Cookie Dough with peanut butter products due to possible health risk.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- January 23, 2009 -- Dough-to-Go of Santa Clara, California is issuing a recall of ten cookie dough products with the Dough-to-Go label, two cookie dough products with the Jane Dough label and one cookie dough product with the Auntie Ono Label because the peanut butter used to make the cookie doughs was supplied by Peanut Corporation of America and has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience, fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the blood stream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
In the State of California, the products involved in the recall are Dough-to-Go labeled products with the identifying codes of CBB-335-40 (12 peanut butter chocolate chip cookies per case), CBB-330-20 (72 peanut butter peanut cookies per case), CBR-190-20 (80 peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough portions per case), CBR-330-20 (80 peanut butter peanut cookie dough portions per case), CBR-330-12 (144 peanut butter peanut cookie dough portions per case), CBR-190-18 (18 pound pail of peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough) and CBR-320-18 (18 pound pail of peanut butter cookie dough) and Jane Dough’s labeled products with the codes FUN-001-0U (36 cookies per case, mixed box, 12 each of chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin), FUN-320-0O (36 peanut butter cookie dough portions per case) and CMB-PBU-30 (24 peanut butter cookies per case).
In the States of Washington, Nevada and Arizona the products involved in the recall are Jane Dough’s labeled products with the codes FUN-001-0U (36 peanut butter cookie dough portions per case, mixed box, 12 each of chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin), FUN-320-0O (36 peanut butter cookie dough portions per case). These products were sold through fundraisers in schools.
In the State of Hawaii the product involved in the recall is labeled Auntie Ono Peanut Butter Cookie Dough (36 portions of peanut butter cookie dough). This product was sold through fundraisers in schools.
Dough-to-Go has been informed by Peanut Corporation of America of Blakely, Georgia, regarding their issuing a voluntary recall of peanut butter and peanut paste because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. This peanut butter was distributed as a direct shipment by Peanut Corporation of American in LTL quantity, via common carrier, and is received by Dough-to-Go in pails weighing 35 pounds. It is labeled as Parnell’s Pride Creamy Old Fashioned Peanut Butter, and is used in the production of flavors of cookie dough under the Dough-To-Go, Jane Dough and Auntie Ono’s labels.
Dough-to-Go is doing “due diligence” and will follow any recommendations made by Peanut Corporation of America and the FDA regarding the handling of this product. As a precaution we have halted all production of items containing peanut butter manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America until further notice as well as placing any finished products or work in process in quarantine. Further, Dough-to-Go is asking any customer having the products listed above to contact us for arrangements for an exchange or refund.
No illnesses associated with Dough-to-Go, Jane Dough, or Auntie Ono products have been reported to date.
