Star Mark Management Recalls "PALM FAN Dehydrated Vegetable" Due to Undeclared Sulfites

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Brooklyn, NY -- December 2, 2004 -- Star Mark Management Inc., 1101 Metropolitan Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11211 is recalling "PALM FAN Dehydrated Vegetable", because it contains undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions, if they consume this product.

The recalled "PALM FAN Dehydrated Vegetable" is packaged in uncoded, 7 oz. (198g), clear plastic bags. The product was sold in the New York City area.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Department Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in "Dehydrated Vegetable", in packages which did not declare sulfites as an ingredient on the label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased "PALM FAN Dehydrated Vegetable" are urged to return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the Star Mark Management, Inc. at (718) 486-0188.
