Mana International Foods Inc. Issues Allergen Alert on Undeclared Nuts in Chocolate Rugelach

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Peekskill, NY -- December 2, 2004 -- Mana International Foods is recalling Chocolate Rugelach because it may contain undeclared nuts. People who have allergies to nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The recalled Chocolate Rugelach, 16 ounce package, date code December 15 2004 were sold in the Metropolitan NY area. UPC code on the packages is 873207 002104.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered through routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel that the nut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of nuts.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Consumers who have purchased the Chocolate Rugelach are urged to return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (914) 788-6430.
