We use our mammography unit solely for interventional procedures. Since interventional procedures are currently excluded from regulation, what are we required to do with respect to infection control procedures?

Because interventional mammographic procedures are currently excluded from regulation, there are no requirements imposed on a facility that does not do "screening or diagnostic" mammography. However, because of the high probability of contamination with blood or other infectious materials during interventional procedures, FDA strongly recommends that such facilities document that they clean and disinfect their equipment after each of their patients.
