Can the ARRT advanced certificate in mammography be used to meet the initial training in mammography requirement?

Policy Guidance Help System logo

Because the standards for obtaining the ARRT(M) certificate have changed over time, the answer depends on when the ARRT(M) certificate was issued and whether the technologist is qualifying under the interim or final regulations.

Date ARRT(M) issued

Qualifying under Interim Regulations before 4/28/99

Qualifying under Final Regulations between 4/28/99 and 12/31/00

Qualifying under Final Regulations after 1/1/01

ARRT(M) issued before 1/1/01

Acceptable as fulfilling Initial Training requirements

Counts as 24 hours of the 40 hour requirement (includes necessary subject areas). Doesn’t include 25 supervised exams or new mammographic modality training.
