Film Masking Devices

900.12(b)(15): Facilities shall ensure that film masking devices that can limit the illuminated area to a region equal to or smaller than the exposed portion of the film are available to all interpreting physicians interpreting for the facility.

Questions:

1. Are there any specific requirements concerning the viewing conditions for screen-film mammograms?
2. Are there any regulations regarding viewbox luminance?
3. Our mammography exams are interpreted off-site. Do we need to have a viewbox, hot light, and masking materials on-site?
4. Do masking view-scopes meet the masking requirement, even if their field of view is smaller than that of the size of the film?
