As a subscriber to the Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) Website, you can expect to receive monthly email notifications alerting you that the MedSun website has been updated. You will be encouraged to visit the MedSun website to view recent updates. Each month, the content on the homepage will be updated to reflect a new monthly newsletter that showcases timely patient safety information. Each month, the following information will be publicized:

• New ‘Articles’, which address timely device issues that have an impact on patient safety. Articles are geared for general and for Subnetwork audiences. MedSun Subnetworks are designed to collect and share information about adverse events from specific clinical areas with high-risk products.
• New ‘Safety Tips’. If a Safety Tip written by FDA staff is cleared for posting, this will also appear on the homepage. Safety Tips provide helpful recommendations which serve to mitigate potential complications seen with certain devices.
• New ‘Highlighted Reports’, which represent a cross section of device-related events submitted by MedSun reporters.
• New ‘Medical Device Problem Summaries,’ which include medical device problems summarized from de-identified reports received by MedSun hospitals.

Subscribers to the MedSun website can also expect to be alerted on an ad-hoc basis when new content has been added to the ‘Educational Materials’ page. This is an extremely important page for subscribers who would like to use this material to educate staff about Adverse Event reporting and how to recognize reportable events.
