Overview of U.S. FDA’s Import Program and Update on FSMA Proposed Rules, December 2013

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA), Office of International Programs hosted an educational forum on FDA’s Import Program and recent updates on the Food Safety Modernization Act’s (FSMA) proposed rules.

This forum is intended for officials representing the foreign embassies, consulates, and trade missions in the United States. The presentations and material are provided in English only

Forum Objectives:
 

  • To describe FDA’s Import Program; 
  • To provide an overview of FDA’s import process and how FDA and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection work together to implement the import laws and regulations;  
  • To navigate the FDA webpage for information on imports and food facility registration as well as observing a live demonstration on how to complete a Prior Notice; and 
  • To understand the newly proposed FSMA rules.
