FDA Voice - Deborah Autor, Esq., talks about the Development of the Office of Global Regulatory Operations and Policy (GO) and the Implementation of the Pathway to Global Product Safety and Quality Report

February 27, 2012

Dear International Colleague:

FDA has started a new public communication forum – FDA Voice – the Agency’s official blog. It shares news, background, announcements and other information from FDA’s senior leadership and staff stationed at home and abroad about our work. Today’s FDA Voice features an interview with Deborah M. Autor, Esq., Deputy Commissioner for Global Regulatory Operations and Policy. In it, she talks about the development of the Office of Global Regulatory Operations and Policy (GO) and the implementation of the Pathway to Global Product Safety and Quality report. GO is comprised of the Office of Regulatory Affairs and the Office of International Programs. It leads FDA’s domestic and international product quality and safety efforts, including global collaboration, global data-sharing, development and harmonization of standards, field operations, compliance, and enforcement activities. The Pathway to Global Product Safety and Quality report outlines FDA’s new strategy to meet the challenges posed by rapidly rising imports of FDA-regulated products and a complex global supply chain. You may download the Report at: http://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/CentersOffices/OfficeofGlobalRegulatoryOperationsandPolicy/GlobalProductPathway/default.htm.

You can find FDA Voice at: https://blogs.fda.gov/fdavoice/ and subscribe at: https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/USFDA/subscriber/new?topic_id=USFDA_223. A forum like this is especially important for an agency like FDA, because the work we do tends to be complex in nature. FDA Voice will give FDA employees the opportunity to explain how their work impacts public health, and we hope to use the forum as a means to provide our stakeholders with relevant information.

We hope you enjoy reading the interview with Deputy Commissioner Autor and will subscribe to FDA Voice to learn more about the Agency’s latest news and views. We look forward to talking with you more in the future about the ways FDA is addressing globalization and protecting public health.

Sincerely,

---/s/---

Mary Lou Valdez, MSM
Associate Commissioner for International Programs
