EXTENSION OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BETWEEN THE
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES OF
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THROUGH THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION AND THE
MINISTRY OF HEALTH OF THE UNITED MEXICAN STATES
THROUGH THE FEDERAL COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION FROM SANITARY RISKS COVERING
THE SAFETY AND QUALITY OF FRESH AND FROZEN AQUACULTURED MOLLUSCAN SHELLFISH EXPORTED
FROM THE UNITED MEXICAN STATES TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Whereas the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the Commission for Protection from Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) (collectively, the Participants) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding Covering the Safety and Quality of Fresh and Frozen Aquacultured Molluscan Shellfish Exported from the United Mexican States to the United States of America signed on June 18, 2003 (the MOU), and
Whereas activities under the MOU were to continue for a period of five years which five year period will end on the Eighteenth of June, 2008; and
Whereas the Participants desire to extend the cooperative work under the MOU in promoting the safety of public health and to ensure the safety and quality of molluscan shellfish exported to the United States of America from the United Mexican States;
The Participants hereby consent to extend the MOU for a period of five years from the last date of signature of this document.
