Mead Johnson Nutrition is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Office of Criminal Investigations (FDA), and other law enforcement officials to recover cases of infant formula products that were stolen from a truck stop in
Product batch numbers can be found on both sides of each case, as well as on the bottom of each can.
Not all cases with the indicated batch numbers were in the stolen shipment, and some cases from these same batches have been safely delivered from Mead Johnson to retailers, wholesalers and institutions.
Consumers should purchase Mead Johnson products only from well established and reputable retailers. If consumers purchase Mead Johnson products from other sources they should inspect the product and label for signs of tampering before opening the product. Mead Johnson infant formula products are packaged in “tamper-evident” cans, meaning that if the package has been opened, it should be evident to the consumers.
Likewise, employees at hospitals that receive Mead Johnson patient samples labeled as Hospital Gift Packs from sources other than Mead Johnson should inspect the gift pack cases and outer wraps for signs of tampering before distributing the gift packs to patients.
Retailers, wholesalers and institutions who receive their product directly from Mead Johnson are not affected by this notification.
Mead Johnson Nutrition and the FDA are asking for the public’s help in reporting any information regarding the stolen Mead Johnson products to FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) by calling (800) 551-3989 or by visiting the OCI website www.fda.gov/OCI.
