Each year in U.S., foodborne illness causes:

  • 48 million gastrointestinal illnesses
  • 128,000 hospitalizations
  • 3,000 deaths
     

 

Speaker's Notes

48 million people get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 people die from foodborne illness each year.
So, we can clearly see that foodborne illness is a very serious issue, which leads us to our next statement . . .
