Finding of No Significant Impact

Finding of No Significant Impact

A food-contact notification (FCN No. 1106), submitted by GE Water and Process Technologies, to provide for the safe use of an aqueous mixture containing hypobromous acid generated on-site from an aqueous mixture of hydrogen bromide and sodium, potassium or calcium hypochlorite, as an antimicrobial additive in ice or water, used in meat and poultry processing.

The Environmental Review Team has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and, therefore, will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement. This finding is based on information, including an environmental assessment, dated July 20, 2011, in the notification submitted by the notifier, and other information known to the agency.
