Finding of No Significant Impact

A food contact notification (FCN No. 908), submitted by Enviro Tech Chemical Services, Inc., to provide for the safe use of peroxyacetic acid solution as an antimicrobial additive in process water, ice, or brine for washing, rinsing, storing or cooling of processed and pre-formed meat and poultry products.

The Environmental Review Team has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and, therefore, will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement. This finding is based on information, including an environmental assessment, dated April 30, 2009, in the notification submitted by the notifier, our supplement to the environmental record, and other information known to the agency.

This document incorporates by reference the notifier's environmental assessment, dated April 30, 2009.

The uses of the FCS described in the EA were changed. The use is only as an antimicrobial additive in process water, ice, or brine for washing, rinsing, storing or cooling of processed and pre-formed meat and poultry products. The use as a processed water on automated packaging systems to rinse non-absorbent packaging materials in the final packaging process was not applicable.
