Attached is the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for this food-contact notification. When this notification becomes effective, this FONSI and the notifier's Environmental Assessment, dated April 15, 2004, may be made available to the public.

 

Please note that, under Format Item 4.a of the EA, the notifier stated that a grafted copolymer of cross-linked sodium polyacrylate with polyvinyl alcohol was the subject of FCN 183. However, this substance was actually the subject of FCN 283.

 

Please let us know if there is any change in the identity or use of the food contact substance.

Finding of No Significant Impact

A food contact notification (FCN No. 427), submitted by Stockhausen, Inc., to provide for the safe use of propenoic acid, homopolymer, sodium salt for use as an absorbent material in food-contact packaging for poultry, red meat, cubed tomatoes, fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, fresh whole berries, and fresh or frozen fish fillets

 

 

 

 

The Environmental Review Group has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and therefore will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement. This finding is based on information submitted by the notifier in an environmental assessment (EA) dated April 15, 2004.
