Attached is the finding of no significant impact (FONSI). As we discussed on June 29, 2000, when you assemble the EA to be made public, you will need to replace pages 1, 8, and 20 of the May 8, 2000, EA with the revised pages dated June 28, 2000, that the notifier will have mailed to us. When this notification becomes effective, this FONSI and the notifier's June 28, 2000, EA may be made available to the public. However, do not make public the confidential appendix at the end of the EA.

Please let us know if there is any change in the identity or use of the food-contact substance that would be inconsistent with the identity and use described in the FONSI.

Finding of No Significant Impact

Premarket notification FCN No. 63, submitted by Kuraray America, Inc., Kuraray Co., Ltd, and Kuraray Europe, GmbH, to provide for the safe use of styrene block polymers with 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene and 1,3 butadiene, hydrogenated in food-contact articles.

The Environmental Review Team has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and therefore will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement. This finding is based on the notifier's environmental assessment dated June 28, 2000.
