Finding of No Significant Impact

Premarket Notification FCN No. 000031, submitted by Nalco Chemical Company, to provide for the safe use of fluorescein, disodium salt or dipotassium salt as an inert tracer chemical in boiler systems where steam may contact food.

The Environmental Review Team has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and therefore will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement.

This action was originally requested by Nalco Chemical Company in Food Additive Petition (FAP) 7A4539, as announced in the April 16, 1998, Federal Register (63 FR 18921). The food contact use requested in FCN No. 000031 is identical to the food contact use requested in FAP 7A4539. Therefore, the information presented in the environmental assessment for FAP 7A4539 is applicable to this notification.
