SUBJECT: 2013 Revision of the Methods of Making Sanitation Ratings of Milk Shippers
The 2013 Revision of the Methods of Making Sanitation Ratings of Milk Shippers (MMSR) has been completed and an electronic version is being provided with this M-I. A hard copy will be provided to the printers and will be available for general distribution at a later date.
The 2013 MMSR will become effective within one (1) year following the issuance of this M-I and its corresponding electronic publication (January 30, 2015); or by the official notification to the States through the transmittal of an IMS-a, as applicable, following the Conference at which the changes were passed. For States that can legally enforce the new regulations based on the issuance of IMS-a-49, the effective date for the 2013 MMSR will be November 8, 2013.
When the electronic version of the 2013 Revision of the MMSR is posted on the FDA Web Site an M-I will be issued announcing the availability of the document on the FDA Web Site.
Copies of this memorandum and the 2013 MMSR document, when received, should be distributed to Regional Milk Specialists, Milk Regulatory/Rating Agencies, Laboratory Evaluation Officers and Milk SanitationRating Officers in your region. This information should also be widely distributed to representatives of the dairy industry and other interested parties and will be available on the FDA Web Site at http://www.fda.gov at a later date.
