FSMA Public Meeting: Proposed Rule on Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food – College Park, MD

March 20, 2014
8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Harvey W. Wiley Federal Bldg., Wiley Auditorium,
5100 Paint Branch Pkwy., College Park, MD 20740

The purpose of this public meeting is to discuss the proposed rule on Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food. This proposed rule establishes requirements for shippers, carriers by motor vehicle and rail vehicle, and receivers engaged in the transportation of food, including food for animals, to use sanitary transportation practices to ensure the safety of food. This proposed rule is one of several proposed rules that will establish the foundation of, and central framework for, the modern food safety system envisioned by Congress in the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The meeting is also designed to solicit oral stakeholder and public comments on the proposed rules, inform the public about the rulemaking process (including how to submit comments, data and other information to the rulemaking dockets), and respond to questions about the proposed rules.

For general questions about the meeting, contact: Juanita Yates, Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Food and Drug Administration, 5100 Paint Branch Parkway, College Park, MD 20740, telephone: 240-402-1731, e-mail: juanita.yates@fda.hhs.gov.
