Bacteriological Analytical Manual (BAM) Media M43: Cooked Meat Medium (Modified)

           (commercially available in dehydrated form)

Beef heart454 g
Proteose peptone20 g
Dextrose2 g
NaCl5 g

 

 

(b) Diluent
            (not available commercially)

Tryptone10 g
Sodium thioglycollate1 g
Soluble starch1 g
Dextrose2 g
Neutral red (1% aqueous)5 ml
Distilled water1 liter

 

Adjust pH to 6.8 ± 0.2. Add 1 g dehydrated (a) and 15 ml (b) to 20 x 150 mm tubes. Let meat particles rehydrate. Autoclave 15 min at 121°C.
