Mannitol Salt Agar

Beef extract1 g
Polypeptone10 g
NaCl75 g
Mannitol10 g
Phenol red0.025 g
Agar15 g
Distilled water1 liter


Heat with agitation to dissolve agar and boil 1 min. Dispense 20 ml portions into 15 x 100 mm petri dishes. Autoclave 15 min at 121°C. Final pH, 7.4 ± 0.2.
