Bacteriological Analytical Manual

Urea Broth

Urea20 g
Yeast extract0.1 g
Na2HPO49.5 g
KH2PO49.1 g
Phenol red0.01 g
Distilled water1 liter


Dissolve ingredients in distilled water. DO NOT HEAT. Sterilize by filtration through 0.45 µm membrane. Aseptically dispense 1.5-3.0 ml portions to 13 x 100 mm sterile test tubes. Final pH, 6.8 ± 0.2.
