SUBJECT: Delvo-X-Press Beta-lactam Residue Test Kit

Below is the text of a letter received by FDA from James T. Whitt, Business
Development Manager, Dairy Ingredients, DSM Food Specialties USA, Inc.

"I am writing to advise you that DSM Food Specialties will discontinue its
Delvo-X-Press Beta-lactam residue test kit. Manufacturing for global markets
will end effective January 1, 2004. DSM Food Specialties in the U.S. has a
limited inventory of Delvo-X-Press test kits with expiration dates of December
20, 2003. We will not be restocking this product for the US and we are advising
our customers to switch to alternative tests."

Based on the information provided in this letter, the next update of M-a-85 will
not contain the Delvo-X-Press Beta-lactam Test Kit as an acceptable NCIMS test
kit.

Copies of this memorandum are enclosed for distribution to Regional Milk
Specialists, State Milk Regulatory Agencies, State Milk Laboratory Evaluation
Officers and State Milk Sanitation Rating Officers in your region. This
memorandum should be widely distributed to representatives of the dairy industry
and other interested parties and also will be available on the FDA Web site at
