FDA has learned of a new norovirus illness case in Pennsylvania caused by frozen oysters harvested from an additional lease within the same regional harvest area that caused the norovirus outbreak reported earlier in this notice. Samples of oysters from lots associated with this new case were tested by FDA. All samples were found to be positive for norovirus. As a result, this recall notice has been expanded to include three additional lots of frozen Korean oysters. Lots added to the recall are as follows:

FDA Expands Warning to Consumers Not to Eat Certain Frozen Oysters from Korea
FDA is expanding its warning to include additional frozen oyster products from Korea. These products have been linked to norovirus cases in Washington state. In a November 4, 2011 release FDA notified the public of the recall of one lot, C-110223, packed by Central Fisheries Co. Ltd,
Some of the product contained in these additional lots has been identified as breaded frozen shucked oyster products, in addition to the individually quick frozen oyster meat recalled last week. An additional company in Korea, Daihung Mulsan, Inc. has also been identified as a distributor/exporter of harvested product from the area in question during the period February 23-March 16, 2011.
Direct importation of the product was limited to distributors in California, New Jersey and Maryland where state regulatory officials are working to monitor the recall of these products by those distributors. FDA will update this web page, including more product photos, as additional information becomes available.
Consumers who have recently purchased the frozen oysters imported from Korea listed below should not eat them and should return the product to the place of purchase or dispose of the product safely.
