Definitions (cont.)

  • Restaurant – a facility that prepares and sells food directly to consumers for immediate consumption
    • E.g., cafeterias, cafes, fast food establishments and hospital, nursing home, or day care kitchens; and, by analogy, pet shelters, kennels, and veterinary facilities that provide food directly to animals
    • Facilities that provide food to interstate conveyances (E.g., trains, planes) are not restaurants
