Medical Officer, Deputy Director for Medical Affairs

This position is for a Medical Officer GS-0602-14/15 in the Immediate Office of the Director, Division of Hematology, Office of Blood Research and Review, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. The Division of Hematology is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and recommending appropriate action on biological submissions, specifically plasma-derived products and their recombinant and transgenic analogues. The products include immune globulins, albumin, coagulation factors, platelets, red blood cells, and alpha 1 proteinase inhibitor. The products are used for treatment of protein deficiency, autoimmune diseases, anemia and thrombocytopenia. The Deputy Director for Medical Affairs will have responsibility for oversight of clinical review pertaining to clinical trial design of plasma-derived products and their recombinant and transgenic analogues. Specialty training in any of the following will be contributory: internal medicine, hematology, critical care medicine, rheumatology, and infectious diseases.

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen. Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).] Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Salary Range

Salary equivalent to GS-6020-14 or 15 ($98,033.00 - $149,000). Salary is commensurate with education and experience with an excellent benefits package. The candidate may also be eligible for the PHS Commissioned Corp.
