Overview of NARMS Surveillance of Enteric Bacteria

DR. GREEN: Okay. Thank you, Mary. So we have been hearing about how antimicrobial resistance, surveillance and monitoring programs in research activities are happening nationally and in some cases globally. Now, we’re going to focus on NARMS.

So, our first speaker is Doctor Beth Karp. In June she joined the Enteric Diseases Epidemiology Branch at CDC as a Senior Veterinary Epidemiologist. But prior to that Doctor Karp served as a veterinary medical officer at FDA CVM. And much of her work at CVM was related to food safety. And for the past, or for the last three years of her tenure at FDA she served as the Coordinator of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System. So, Beth.
