Program Measures
I. Compliance Measures: Egg Farm Domestic Inspections
A. Assess industry safety and compliance through the use of egg farm inspections
- Cumulative percentage of domestic egg farm inspections completed at the end of the month
- Percentage of time that has passed since start of egg farm inspectional work (September 2010 - December 2011)
- Cumulative percentage of domestic egg farm inspections completed by state inspectors at the end of the month
B. Assess the number and outcome of routine domestic egg farm inspections that were accomplished
- Percentage of egg farm inspections this month resulting in a classification of OAI
- Percentage of egg farm inspections this month resulting in a classification of VAI
- Percentage of egg farm inspections this month resulting in a classification of NAI
- Percentage of egg farm inspections this month resulting in a classification of OTHER
C. Assess extent of outreach and education to industry on Egg Rule requirements
- Number of state-level outreach events conducted in the month
- Percentage of large producers who have participated in outreach events in the month
D. Assess frequency of non-compliance of the Egg Rule by area of regulation
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16190 in the month (requires written Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) prevention plan)
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16117 in the month (requires written SE prevention plan specific to each farm)
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16120 in the month (requires SE prevention plan to have certain elements)
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16165 in the month (requires diversion if any of 4 egg tests are positive for SE)
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16193 in the month (requires records documenting compliance with rodent and other pest control measures)
- Percentage of inspected firms deficient in citation 16138 in the month (the presence of rodents is not monitored by appropriate monitoring methods)
II. Compliance Measures: Egg Farm Environmental Samples
A. Assess industry safety and compliance through the use of egg farm environmental sampling
- Total number of egg farm sites with environmental samples taken during the month
- Total number of sub-samples as related to environmental samples during the month
- Total number of sites that had positive environmental samples during the month
- Total number of barns that had positive environmental samples during the month
- Total number of positive findings (may or may not be actionable) during the month
- Number of recall recommendations during the month entered into the Recall Enterprise System (RES) resulting from environmental positives
- Number of domestic compliance actions (warning letters, injunctions, seizures) taken during the month related to environmental positive findings (subset of enforcement actions)
