Increasing Public Access to FDA's Compliance and Enforcement Data
On April 22, 2014, FDA released a report recommending ways to enhance the transparency and public accessibility of the Agency's compliance and enforcement data.
FDA established eight working groups with representatives from all of FDA's centers and several of its offices to explore at the FDA Commissioner's direction eight initiatives for making FDA's publicly available compliance and enforcement data more accessible and user-friendly.
Each group was asked to draft a report on the initiative assigned to it that included its findings and recommendations for moving forward. This new report is the culmination of all of their efforts.
In September 2014, FDA launched a Data Dashboard which, in affording public access to and graphically displaying a wide variety of its compliance and enforcement data, implements several of the report’s recommendations.
